Defeat and Redemption.

It’s been a while since I have posted.

I would like to blame it on the fact that I have a “new” baby, who has now decided she can army crawl all over the house, or because I have been working a lot, or even because life is crazy and we had a full summer.  All of those things are technically true, but to be honest the reason I have not posted lately is because I had an epic website disaster of enormous proportions that caused many tears and if I didn’t have the most patient husband ever, possibly the demise of my marriage as well.  Websites crashing is traumatic at the best of times.  But when that website holds year(s) of memories AND you create websites for a living it is one million times more devastating.  To make a long story short – due to some freak of nature corrupted files and some serious murphy’s law, all of my blog content was “lost” in the move when I switched hosts.  Now I have done a similar host switch for many clients in my “real job” and never and an issue.  But of course when I did my own I lost everything.  Or so I thought.  But after 3+ weeks, many many tears, and about 15 hours spent on help forums I finally managed to fix it.  In the throws of my panic my ever optimistic husband tried to reassure me by saying “Well if it is lost forever you can just start your blog again and your first post can be about how thing’s don’t always go according to plan.”  This was not bad advice, but I still did want to choke him when he said it.  Thankfully I am now writing a post about how not everything happens according to plan, but with the sweet detail of not everything was in fact lost and I can still show my face in public without the self imposed shame of utter defeat.

yuck

So here I am, standing atop the mountain of victory.  I saved my blog.  It’s all here.  And in the midst of all of the drama surrounding getting it back up and running I realized how much it means to me.  I love writing, I love sharing my adorable and utterly ridiculous children with you all.  Thank you for listening, and making me realize that it is worth fighting for.  So stay tuned.  I have a whole summer’s worth of drool worthy pictures to spam you with, and stories to match.  {Now that I am home from the doctor’s office where little chef decided to have a full on crap in his pants in the brand new freshly painted waiting room.}

So thank you for sticking with me.  Thank you to all the people who asked when I would blog again and let me know how much you love reading what I write.  As my optimist would say “I am over the moon”.
