A Sea of Support
This past week has had me thinking about human nature more than I care to admit. If you have been following along with Thor’s story you can see that we have had an emotional week. Emotional to say the least. But the emotions have also been surrounded by an amazing support. Not just from family […]
Cookbook Update – Photoshoot
As promised, here is an update on our family cookbook! We spent the whole weekend cooking up a storm at Nana’s house and had our wonderful friend Amber owner of Amber Blaire Photography shooting the entire time. It was such a wonderful weekend, Little Chef was very excited that we cooked the whole weekend long. Usually we […]
Pumpkin Pie and Family Favorites
Pumpkin pie is one of my favourite desserts, and the recipe from my “The Little House Cookbook” seemed like the perfect way to use the pumpkins we grew in our garden this year.
Funky Fermentation
Lately I have been dabbling in wild fermentation and had some amazing results. The most recent project has been a whole wheat sourdough starter that I have been making bread with. Baked Chicken Sourdough

4 H
This year I have had the opportunity to help teach the local 4H club foods club. When I first signed up I assumed it would be fairly basic lessons, with a couple kids whose parent’s signed them up. Boy was I wrong. The little crew we had sign up are quite a hilarious mix of […]
Cheese Sticks and a bad attitude
Yesterday Little Chef was a grumpy little thing. I now realize it was because he was coming down with something because he had a case of the pukeys this morning. He had to call his Tante Lexi and tell her all about it because apparently that’s what we do in this family. Monday morning, I […]
Caramels
Every Christmas {yes it’s well in to the new year and everyone’s diets and I’m still talking Christmas.} my family picks names and makes a gift for the name we pick. It’s creative, means a heck of a lot less spending, and there is something so beautiful and special about a hand made gift. We […]
