Father’s Day

This weekend we celebrated Father’s Day with sunshine, a slip’n slide, pizza and pie!  It was a really nice and sweet day.  There have been some stressful days lately, and it felt nice to just hang out together, cook, and play.  Sometimes that is just what your soul needs.

It also felt really great to celebrate Father’s Day and Jamie.  Our 5 year anniversary is this year, and we have been through some serious ups and downs.  Stresses and fun, it’s been a very wild ride.  I think sometimes we forget how much our people mean to us.  When you slog through each day side by side you don’t look up and realize that your person is there next to you, feeling all the hurts and happiness with you.  And I don’t think anything can replace the bond you build by going through all the normal parts of life together.

We made some seriously good pizzas, and the kids had a lot of fun building their own.

Jolene also made a beautiful apple pie for dessert.

So a very happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there who put in the day to day work.  Who are there for bedtimes, and mornings, and kiss owies, and put in the long hours.  That is what your kids will remember.  Thank you all.
